The longer pigeons nest, the more it costs. They leave behind droppings that damage your roof, peck at wires, and dry nesting material that’s a fire risk. Get a free instant quote to stop this happening to you.

What’s under there

Once pigeons nest, the offspring keep coming back until you put a stop to it.

A pair moves in, and by the end of the season you have a colony. This is more of a problem than just noise and mess left by the birds.

Solar panels marked with bird droppings and debris
  • Acidic droppings. Bird droppings are highly acidic and damage wires, tin and tile roofs alike, leaving you with a repair bill in the thousands.
  • Output drops. Droppings and debris sit on the glass and block the light. You paid for a system that then earns you less.
  • Nesting material builds up. Twigs and feathers pack against live DC wiring, which is a fire risk.
  • Birds attract other pests. It’s not just the birds causing damage — they draw in pests like rats, which chew through wires in and on your roof.

Questions

Questions we get asked.

What does it actually cost?

Bird Proofing — $35 per panel

Our one-off bird-proofing service is $35 per solar panel. This includes:

  • Removing existing birds, nests and debris from underneath the panels
  • Cleaning out the area before installation
  • Installing the bird-proofing mesh around your solar panels
  • Securing the system to help prevent birds from returning

Solar Panel Cleaning — $15 per panel

Our one-off solar panel cleaning service is $15 per panel, leaving your panels clean and free from dirt, dust and bird mess to help maintain their performance.

Annual Cleaning Subscription — $8 per panel

For ongoing maintenance, you can subscribe to our annual solar panel cleaning service for just $8 per panel. We’ll return based on chosen cleaning intervals to clean your panels and help keep them performing at their best year-round.

Why choose the subscription? Regular cleaning helps prevent the build-up of dirt and bird mess and saves you the hassle of remembering to book your next clean.

Will the mesh damage my panels or void my warranty?

No. Our bird-proofing system is designed to be installed without drilling, screwing or making any permanent modifications to your solar panels or roof.

The bird-proofing mesh is securely clipped to the existing solar panel frame, meaning there is no drilling into the panels, panel frames or roof.

Because the installation does not require any permanent modifications to the solar system or roof, it is designed to avoid affecting the manufacturer’s warranty. We also take care during installation to avoid damaging the panels, frames, roof or existing solar equipment.

How long does it take?

A 10 to 20 panel system takes a morning, about three to four hours including the clean. Bigger systems and a heavy nest clear-out run to a full day. Your quote comes with a time estimate.

Do I need to be home?

No. We need side access to the roof and somewhere to run water for the clean. You get photos and video of the finished perimeter either way, so you can see what we did up there.

Will the pigeons just come back?

Pigeons may return to the area, but our bird-proofing prevents them from getting back underneath your solar panels where they like to nest.

The mesh creates a complete barrier around the panels, blocking access to the space underneath. Once they can no longer access their nesting area, they are forced to move on and find somewhere else.

We also stand behind our work. If pigeons do manage to get back underneath your panels after we have installed the bird-proofing, we will continue to come back until the birds are successfully blocked out — for free.

Why is it important to clean your solar panels?

You’ve invested money into your solar system, so you want to make sure it’s working as efficiently as possible.

Dirt, dust and bird droppings can block sunlight and reduce your panels’ power output. Cleaning them can help your system produce more electricity, most likely making back the cost of the clean through increased energy generation.

Bird droppings and localised dirt can also create hot spots, which may contribute to cell degradation over time.

Regular cleaning helps protect your investment and keeps your solar system performing at its best.
